Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) assists you with your transition from school to post-school life.  You are able to gain practical experience in a variety of industries to make a more informed choice about your career pathway.

Outcomes:

a Qualifications defined by the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQF).
a Accumulated points towards the Queensland Certificate of Education.

Steps to undertake SWL:

a Complete an SWL registration form.
a Organise to have the Structured Workplace Agreement Form signed by you, your parents/guardian, your employer, and your Principal.  This is a legal document and it is very important to have it signed by all parties.
a Telephone your employer to organise an interview as soon as you receive your placement details and the Structured Workplace Agreement Form.

a Ensure you know exactly where the employer is located and organise your transport.
a Attend an interview with the employer at least two (2) weeks before the placement.  This is where you will get the paperwork signed, participate in an induction, and gain specific information about your work placement.  For example, you will need to ask about start and finish times, dress code, lunch facilities.
a Return the completed Structured Workplace Agreement Form to your work experience co-ordinator.
a Attend work placement each day.  Telephone your school and your employer if you are unable to attend.
a Complete your log book and the student survey.
